Sexual Health Expert is the UK's newest consumer sexual health website. The site's dedicated to ensuring you obtain the best advice for improving your sexual health and well being.
The average person in the UK has limited knowledge about sexual health, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well the best way to test and treat them. More importantly many people around the world don’t know how to protect themselves against STI’s, pregnancy or bad sex education. This site's here to show you how and how to get started.
A brief intro
Founder and Executive Chairman Dr Bret Palmer is a Genitourinary Medicine and HIV consultant, AKA a sexual health doctor and he created SexualHealthExpert in Secember 2024 for just £40. The site's ethical stance and strong consumer focus in telling sexual health as it is has made it a popular sexual health resource.
SexualHealthExpert, also started by Dr Bret Palmer is linked to the popular YouTube channel The Explaned Series which sets out simple advice for common and complex sexual health concerns. Many of videos are featured on this site as well.
How the site works
The site never charges to save people money, nor does it take any advertising. Companies cannot pay to buy space on the site (see the How this site is financed guide for more info). Any top deals, best buys, tips or suggestions on the main site are purely down to journalistic research from the SHE team and Bret (see the Editorial Code).
The underlying philosophy is that we live in an adversarial consumer society, this means most of the advice, tests, products out there for your sexual health will just want to concentrate on selling them to you, regardless if that’s what you need. We are different. We first write the advice and then we see if there are products which are suitable. We are not funded by any of the companies who’s products we recommend and only get our income from affiliate links. If there is no product with an affiliate link then we will recommend non-affiliated linked products, as long it is the best we can find.

The history and growth of the site
Bret officially launched SexualHealthExpert.com in 2024, meaning we're are a newbie in the world of the internet. In truth, there'd been a YouTube channel for a few years giving sexual health advice to people around the world with over 2.5 million views, but when this site was built and launched is when we count as its real birth.
Bret had built this website by himself with little knowledge of how to do it, but using the internet builder Squarespace, made it an achievable project all for £40. Rather scarily, that's the only capital outlay he ever put in. We'll let you decide if it was a good return.
